Movies Influenced by The Philosophy of Jean Baudrillard:
· ‘The Matrix’- Baudrillard’s notions of hyperreality and the simulacrum relate to how society, through our obsessions with technology and popular culture, have constructed an artificial society
· ‘Solaris’- delineates on the idea of the simulacrum. The simulations aboard the space station make Kelvin long for the original, yet that original is gone, and he chooses to accept the copy. Baudrillard provided a three-step outline relating to how our culture has come to fully blur the lines between the real and the simulation
· ‘The Truman Show’- Truman is essentially the embodiment of the fourth stage of the simulacrum in which nothing is real, and signs merely reflect other signs. He is a real person, but his life is based on a hyperreality. His realness is juxtaposed by the fakeness of his environment
· ‘Pulp Fiction’- the fetishizing of celebrities supports Baudrillard’s argument regarding hyperreality
Animal Crossing fans are getting rich running in-game businesses:
· Batten's business works by a player from the game contacting them through social media for them to complete time consuming jobs on the game in return for money
· Batten allocates jobs to its employees
· A job can take anywhere from 10mins to under 2 hours to complete
· There are in-game photographers who use the Nintendo Switch’s Capture button to conduct photoshoots with clients
The Problem with extended film franchises:
· Conglomerates tend to rely on creating many sequels to block buster movies as this has a predicted audience meaning revenue is guaranteed
· This however can decrease the value
· ‘Hellraiser’ is a good sequel of movies which demonstrates this as value of good storylines decrease overtime as profit was the producer’s main goal
How British Vogue pulled off its legendary cover with 40 women:
· Rosie Vogel-Eades is the magazine's global bookings director and the person who co-ordinated the massive photoshoot
· She was worried that they wouldn’t be able to get anyone on board as usually models don’t like sharing covers, especially that of different disciplines- she was wrong however as lots said yes
· Took loads of organising due to the mass amount of models needing hair and makeup
